Prior to joining SOLO Tanner lived and worked in the mountains of California. During the summers Tanner served as a firefighter, starting as a volunteer and later becoming a Captain.
His fire department’s responsibilities included 911 EMS calls, structural and wildland fire, extensive search and rescue calls to one of California’s busiest wilderness areas, and lake rescue.
As a Ski Patroller during the winter months, Tanner gained experience with high alpine rescue techniques, snow safety and avalanche mitigation, critical incident investigations, as well as extensive traumatic injury medical care.
He also spent time in the ski industry practicing risk management as the resort’s Health and Safety Manager. When Tanner is not in the classroom you will find him out on the trails enjoying everything the outdoors has to offer.
