Sam-SOLO-Instructor

Sam has been with NOC for three years and holds a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT) certification. He loves getting to introduce people to wilderness medicine and the outdoors.

Sam comes from a family of outdoor educators and has worked as a conservation corps member, a college outdoor trip leader specializing in whitewater and caving, a trip supervisor, a zip-line guide, and a raft guide.

When not teaching, Sam is in grad school at Western Carolina University for Outdoor and Experiential Education. If he’s not catching up on homework, he enjoys paddling on the French Broad, caving, and generally sitting around outside. If he’s inside, he’s baking, wrangling 4 cats, or scrolling through Wikipedia articles on his current interests.
