Barrett grew up hiking and paddling all over the Midwest. He spent 7 years working for a camp in northern Wisconsin, first as a backpacking guide and climbing instructor and later as a director. In college, Barrett led trips in the northern Appalachians.

He has worked in restoration ecology and earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies. Before joining SOLO, Barrett worked for a wilderness therapy program for several years. Barrett enjoys mountain biking, climbing, snowboarding, and visiting county high-points. He works part time for Macon County EMS.
