Advanced Wilderness EMT Module December 12-16, 2018 Bryson City, NC
Take your skills to the next level. Elevate your current WEMT status and gain skills in backcountry incident management, disaster medicine and advanced wound management. This 5-day intensive module incorporates standard classroom settings with hands-on scenarios in outdoor settings. Students will acquire advanced skills in search and rescue techniques, rope and knot techniques and travel and endurance medicine.
The Advanced Module also includes one-day of wilderness survival training from NOC’s elite Survival School. Topics include improvised fire building, the use of edible and medicinal plants, shelter building and scene management.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate and 40 continuing education credits. Advanced Module is open to all current WEMTs.
Prerequisites
Due to the intense nature of the course, students must meet the following requirements:
- EMT/ WEMT Certification
- The ability to negotiate all types of terrain, in all weather conditions
